The analytical concepts worked out in the Bioanalytics department, for instance for the analysis of the platelet proteome, will be standardised, certified, and made ready for the market in an independent work group (funded by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Ministry of Innovation, Science and Research). The aim of the Standardisation group is the application of omics technologies to patient samples in the scope of research studies, in order to identify biomarkers for individual risk prediction and prevention of cardiovascular diseases such as blood clotting disorders, strokes, heart attacks, or venous thromboses.
The group is currently preparing the accreditation of their test laboratory according to ISO17025 by the DAkkS (Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle). The standardisation, validation, and accreditation of processes, personnel, methods, and facilities enables the group to deliver mass spectrometry methods developed at ISAS to its partners in research and clinics, providing high quality methods that are ready for practical use. The group therefore serves as a link between the institute's often very basic research and the demands of stakeholders with regard to putting novel technologies into everyday operation.
