ISAS PhD´s on summer school

The annual summer school for all ISAS doctoral candidates took place in September. The diverse programme was organized by the PhD candidates themselves. About 20 PhD´s presented each other their research fields and technologies in a so called “elevator-pitch”-style, which is a fast-paced way to present the own work in a nutshell. Guests from research related companies informed about trends in diagnosis and therapy systems and about the founding of start-ups. An excursion to a pharmaceutical company included tours and scientific discussions.
This interdisciplinary meeting aims to promote the sharing of expertise between the young researchers. The programme was supplemented by social events such as a barbecue. Tingting Li is a phd student in the working group lipidomics and sums her impressions as follows: "The summer school offered me a brilliant opportunity what I was looking for. I had the chance to get to know the major trends happening in the pharmaceutical industry. This helped me to understand the importance of my current project and also gave me the motivation to learn more."
Following the summer school, the PhD´s attended the soft skill courses within their structured PhD training.
