How much of which substance is when at which place? These are the four questions that drive us: We want to determine the quantity and type of a substance under examination and to localise it, preferably in parallel and at any given time. That is why we have made it our job to develop and refine "four-dimensional" methods of analysis. Our research programmes are primarily focused on applications involving health research.

New potential for research and development

"4D-Analytics" forms the technological basis for comprehensively explaining pathological processes. We want to know when and how the "biological decision" between illness and health is made. In order to understand this, we need analytical methods which simultaneously record information on different classes of molecules (such as proteins, lipids and metabolites). Such simultaneous methods should generate completely new types of data, which in turn require new strategies for their evaluation.

The basis for the medicine of tomorrow

Our work produces new insights almost every day. It can be expected that the application of the findings we have made to date will bring significant progress towards faster, more reliable and much cheaper analytical tools. This would improve the chances of preventing illnesses or diagnosing them at an early stage and promises better targeted therapies.
