VIS VUV Ellipsometry
In the visible, ultraviolet up to the vacuum-ultraviolet spectral range electronic excitations determine the optical properties of molecules and solid materials. These excitations are directly linked to the structure and chemical bonding. Thus, spectra in the VIS-VUV-range have fingerprint character for the atomic structure of molecules, molecule layers and interfaces. > more

Atomic nanostructures
One-dimensional electronic systems like „nanowires“ on an atomic scale currently come to the fore of science due to the increasing miniaturisation of semiconductor components. Moreover, they have exotic electronic properties. With optical methods such as Raman spectroscopy and Infrared ellipsometry, it is possible to visualize different states of the nanowires as well as the switching process.

Properties of organic / inorganic interfaces
The combination of organic molecules and inorganic semiconductor surfaces is considered a key issue for future developments in the field of advanced electronic devices and sensors with a possible impact in many different research areas such as biotechnology, nanoelectronics, high density data storage and medical diagnostics. > more
