Research Area / Interests

  • Characterization of surfaces interfaces of solids and nanostructures, organic molecules on surfaces
  • Development and application of optical spectroscopy methods for interfaces analysis
  • translation of spectral fingerprints into a microscopic picture, i.e. underlying physical excitations
  • Optical chacterization techniques:
    • Reflection Anisotropy Spectroscopy (RAS) in the NIR to VUV spectral range
    • Spectral Ellipsometry in the MIR to VUV spectral range (IR and VUVEllipsometer available at the BESSY synchrotron)
    • Raman Spectroscopy
  • Addtional "standard" surface analytical tools:
    • Synchrotron based photoemission spectroscopy (XPS and UPS)
    • Auger electron spectroscopy (AES)
    • Scanning tunnelling Microscopy (STM)
    • Electron diffraction (LEED, RHEED)
