Farewell celebration for Prof. Dr. Kay Niemax

Yesterday, the ISAS staff thanked Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Kay Niemax for his great commitment to the institute during the past 21 years by organizing a surprise farewell party for him. Prof. Niemax had his 65th birthday in January and is now going to retire from his work at the institute. Many of his colleagues joined the celebration to wish him luck for the new period of life.
Prof. Niemax joined ISAS in the year 1985 as head of the “Spectroscopic methods” group. In 1993, he accepted an offer of the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart to hold the Chair of Physics. In 1997 he became the successor of Prof. Tölg as director at ISAS. From 2000 to 2003 he was the managing director of the institute. In future, he will continue his research projects as Wilhelm-Ostwald-Fellow at the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) in Berlin.
