Springer Best Paper Award for young ISAS scientist
Jean-Philippe Frimat from the “Miniaturisation for the Life Sciences“ group has won a prestigious award. The editorial board from the Springer journal “Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry” (ABC) chose his paper “Plasma stencilling methods for cell patterning” as the best paper published in 2009. The award will be presented to Jean-Philippe at an international conference of his choice in 2010. The winning paper describes plasma stencilling approaches for patterned surface activation. The activated areas enable cells to adhere whereas the neighbouring unactivated areas resist cell adhesion, resulting in patterns of cells which remain viable during long term cultivation. The ISAS scientists believe that the plasma stencilling methods will be particularly useful for array-based high throughput cell assays.
