Interface Processes

The Interface Processes group is concentrating on the development of new or improved spectroscopic methods for the analysis of solid samples. Because of the existent expertise the analysis of inorganic sample of industrial relevance is in the main focus. However, increasingly methods for the characterization of bio-medical samples are also being under way. In all cases it is maxim of the department to provide analytical methods and the necessary instrumental equipment to analyze more sensitive, faster and more cost-efficient.

The scientists of the group have long-time and internationally recognized expertise in analytical spectroscopy with plasmas, lasers, X-rays, NMR and infra-red radiation. These spectroscopic domains will also prioritize our future research. The scientists will not only use the instrumental equipment and resources of ISAS but also of DELTA (Dortmunder Elektronen-Testspeicherring, a synchrotron radiation source of the Technical University Dortmund) and IZMR (interdisciplinary center NMR spectroscopy, also TU Dortmund). The department has contracted strategic alliances with both university institutions. At DELTA the department is running its own successful beamline, the ISASLine.
